Agricultural Sustainability Assessment
A simple and highly effective tool for assessing, improving and communicating farm sustainability. Used by leading food and beverage companies to obtain sustainably produced agricultural raw materials. Used by farmers to assess the sustainability of their farms.
The easy scoring mechanism gives farmers and their customers an overview of the sustainability of their farms. Companies evaluate and compare the sustainable practices of multiple suppliers and farmers using a single tool and can also be used to evaluate other existing standards and schemes.
It provides a single reference for comparing existing codes, schemes and legislation and supports the aggregation of agricultural data across countries, commodities and suppliers – underpinning continuous improvement. Farmers can improve performance, save time and resources, reduce costs, and gain access to multiple markets using the FSA tool.
Sustainable Agricultural Initiative Platform
The Sustainable Agricultural Initiative Platform (SAI Platform) is the leading global food and beverage chain of custody initiative for sustainable agriculture.
Food companies and retailers are the largest buyers of agricultural raw materials. To ensure a steady, growing and secure supply of agricultural raw materials, they must be grown sustainably. The overall objective of the SAI Platform is to support the development of sustainable agriculture worldwide.
SAI Platform is a nonprofit organization that facilitates pre-competitive sharing of knowledge and best practices to support the development and implementation of sustainable agricultural practices involving stakeholders throughout the food value chain. Today it has more than 90 members who actively share the same vision of sustainable agriculture.
SAI Platform develops tools and guidance to support local and global sustainable farming practices. Examples of recently developed resources include: “Sector Principles and Practices Document”; “Guide to Sustainable Supply”; recommendations for “Sustainability Performance Assessment (SPA)”; and the “Agricultural Sustainability Assessment (FSA)”.
