Press Release More Confidence for Organic Certification Certification Body IBD becomes member of the Quavera-Alliance

Göttingen, 11.02.2010. Just in time for the BIOFACH 2010 the Quavera-Alliance grows further and welcomes the first latin-american certification body in it´s international network IBD Certifications.

The international trade in organic food requires a new quality of cooperation between certification bodies in order to protect consumer confidence.

This is one of the main goals of the Quavera Alliance where today together with the internationally recognized certification body IBD Certifications six certification bodies from Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany and Italy are working
together.

“As the market leader in Brazil we focus on high safety standards in organic certification”, says Alexandre Harkaly, director of the IBD. “We continuously develop our risk-orientated certification program further.”

The certification bodies in the Quavera-Alliance have all signed the “Code of Conduct for Certification Bodies” of the Anti Fraud Initiative (www.organicintegrity.org) going beyond legal requirements.

The Quavera 2010 work program plans an international available information platform on different organic standards as well as the test of new instruments to protect organic integrity and risk-oriented inspections.

In addition, it conducts on behalf of several retailers and traders supplier audits in different countries.
